On June 19, 2023, the Key Trademark Protection Committee of Guangdong Trademark Association issued a notice on carrying out the work of the 2023 Guangdong Province Key Trademark Protection List. The Guangdong Trademark Association, together with relevant provincial industry associations, professional associations, and city (district) trademark associations, will carry out the work of the 2023 Guangdong Province Key Trademark Protection List. The protection list established by the Key Trademark Protection Committee of Guangdong Trademark Association aims to protect key trademarks registered in Guangdong Province where the domicile of the trademark registrant or the place of manufacture or sale of the product is located.

·Include in application

Trademarks that meet one of the following conditions and are in use can apply to be included in the protection list for key protection.

（1） Famous trademarks, including:
1. Well known trademark recognized by the China National Intellectual Property Administration or the State Administration for Industry and Commerce;

2. A well-known trademark recognized by the people’s court.

（2） Old brand trademarks, including:
1. Trademark recognized as a time-honored Chinese brand;

2. A trademark recognized as a time-honored brand in Guangdong Province or other provincial-level time-honored brands.

（3） Geographical indication trademarks registered as collective trademarks or certification trademarks;

（4） Other trademarks that meet one of the following conditions:
1. The tax amount of goods or services using this trademark in the past 3 years ranks among the top in the same industry in Guangdong Province;

2. The goods or services using this trademark have a good reputation, and the value of this trademark ranks among the top in the industry in the trademark value evaluation work coordinated by the Guangdong Trademark Association;

3. In the process of operation, trademark brands that can bring significant economic benefits to owners or users, and whose brand value ranks among the top in the same industry in the high-value trademark brand evaluation work organized and coordinated by the Guangdong Trademark Association;

4. Serious infringement of trademark rights, including but not limited to copying, imitating, translating, counterfeiting, counterfeiting, and unfair competition.

·Continuation application

（1） The validity period of the certification document for the Guangdong Province Key Trademark Protection List is 3 years, calculated from the date of announcement. Trademarks included in the protection list shall submit an application for extension to the Commercial Insurance Commission within 6 months before their expiration date. The processing of continuation applications is the same as that of inclusion applications. The validity period for each extension is 3 years.

（2） The trademark applying for extension should be a trademark that was included in the 2020 Guangdong Province Key Trademark Protection List on February 10, 2021.

The registrant or licensee of the trademark application.

Applicants can submit their applications between June 19, 2023 and September 18, 2023.
