1、 Competition Introduction
The “Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area High Value Patent Cultivation Layout Competition” (hereinafter referred to as the “Wan Gao Competition”) is jointly organized by the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Market Regulation (Intellectual Property Office), the Intellectual Property Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the Economic and Technological Development Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, and relevant municipal governments at or above the prefecture level in the province.
The “Bay High tech Competition” has been held for four consecutive years since 2019, attracting a total of 2699 technology innovation projects with high-value patent combinations from the Greater Bay Area and across the country to participate in the competition. The total number of participating projects ranks first among similar competitions in the country. In 2022, the “Bay High tech Competition” was successfully selected as one of the first typical cases of building a strong intellectual property country.
2、 Competition Time
Time: August to December 2023 (including preliminary, semi-final, project docking, finals, etc.)
3、 Competition requirements
1. Participating projects
The competition targets high-value intellectual property rights in strategic industrial clusters that are technologically advanced, have great market potential, and have a high probability of implementation and conversion.
2. Requirements for Participants (Teams)
The participating project must be registered by one of the rights holders of the core patents (including integrated circuit layout design) of the project.
The participating team members may include registered employees of the participating entity and registered employees of service agencies.
The same enterprise is not allowed to register for more than three projects, and universities or research institutes are not limited by the number of registrations.

5、 Award Setting
This year’s “Bay High School Competition” has 50 gold, silver, and excellent awards, with a total prize money of 3.95 million yuan. The specific award settings are as follows:
10 gold awards, with a prize of 200000 yuan per award, totaling 2 million yuan in gold awards.
There are 15 silver awards with a prize of 80000 yuan per award, and the total silver award is 1.2 million yuan.
25 awards for excellence, with a bonus of 30000 yuan per award, totaling 750000 yuan.
6、 Special attention
1. For projects within Guangdong Province that have won the finals, their core patents can be recommended by the market supervision bureaus of various cities to participate in the Guangdong Patent Award, without being included in the recommended quota.
2. For award-winning projects within Guangdong Province, if intellectual property pledge financing and intellectual property securitization are carried out, the relevant municipal market supervision bureaus will actively support and provide convenient services.
3. Participating projects can participate in various matchmaking events organized by the competition for free, and have face-to-face communication with industrial parks, service institutions, financial institutions, capital markets, etc., providing comprehensive support services such as creation, operation, protection, and service for participating teams, and promoting the transformation and landing of participating projects.
